Friday, November 15th

World Trivia Night with Dean Zia! (RSVP Here)

Tuesday, November 19th

Global Mingle: Holidays Without Borders (Learn more and RSVP Here!) 
Hosted by the GBC and the Counseling and Psychological Services Office

  • In collaboration with CAPS, this event provides a space for international graduate students to come together and support one another during the holiday season. Holidays can be challenging when you're far from home, and this event offers a warm community where students can share tips, resources, and holiday events that make this time joyful. Lunch will be provided.

Immigration Attorney Presentation (RSVP Here
Hosted by the Office of International Students and Scholar Services 
Via Zoom from 3:00PM - 5:00PM

  • Immigration attorney Elizabeth Goss will present virtually on Tuesday, November 19th from 3-5pm. The focus of this informational session, geared toward students and scholars, will be on nonimmigrant employment with special emphasis on visa options after the completion of studies, practical training or research program. Ms. Goss will discuss various types of working visas and applicable filing requirements, and update participants on current H-1B provisions and the petition process for H-1B visas. Other work visas and employment-based permanent residency (green card) will be introduced as well.

Globally Local: Education, Migration, and Belonging Panel (Learn More and RSVP Here
Hosted by the GBC, the International House of Rhode Island, and the Swearer Center

  • Globally Local: Education, Migration, and Belonging explores a diverse set of migration stories, educational journeys from high school to postdoctoral experiences, and what it means to create equitable spaces for global communities in education. Guest speakers will include internationally identified members of Brown's community, Providence community leaders, and youth voices. Professor Andrea Flores will moderate.

  • Join us for a welcoming Global Community Luncheon, open to all staff, faculty, and students at Brown University who have a passion for global education or identify as part of the international community. This informal gathering is designed to foster connection, create a supportive space, and build meaningful mentorship bonds across roles and backgrounds. Whether you’re new to Brown or a long-standing member, this lunch is an opportunity to share experiences, explore shared interests, and deepen our commitment to inclusive, globally-minded community building. Come for enriching conversations, new friendships, and a celebration of our diverse perspectives.

  • The Global Opportunities Fair at Brown University is designed to introduce students to a world of international possibilities. Hosted in Sayles Hall, the fair features representatives from various university offices and affiliated programs, each presenting unique pathways for global engagement, study, and mobility. Students can explore a wide array of options, including study abroad programs, international internships, research abroad, and many others! Open to undergraduates and graduate students.

You Belong Here - Curating our Home Away from Home

The Global Brown Lounge (Page Robinson Hall room 310) from 12:00PM - 4:00PM 

  • The Global Brown Lounge (or the Globe) is a cherished space on campus for our International student community. Join us anytime from 12:00PM - 4:00PM to celebate the closing of IEW and contribute to a collective art project that centers the conversation of home and belonging. The You Belong Here Mural Project reimagines the timeless question, “Where are you from?” by inviting participants to explore the embodied concepts of home and belonging through memory, sensory experiences, and connection to place.
