The Department of French and Francophone Studies provides support for students interested in studying/living abroad during their undergraduate studies (through the Brown in France Paris program, as well as through alternative organizations). It also serves as a resource for students curious about research and teaching opportunities in the Francophone world (TAPIF, Fulbright, graduate scholarships...) after Brown.

The Brown Semester Internship Program combines a 12-14 week internship experience and academic coursework for the fall or spring semester. Students have the opportunity to gain direct experience in a dynamic field, immerse themselves in a new culture and community, and collaborate with fellow Brown students in small cohorts.

The Center for Language Studies promotes the teaching and learning of all languages on campus. The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program provides fully funded immersive summer programs for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to learn languages of strategic importance to the United States’ national security, economic prosperity, and engagement with the world.

The Watson School of International and Public Affairs is home to a vibrant network of faculty and policy practitioners, leading educational programs, and a growing number of research centers and initiatives that foster globally-focused research and support extensive programming. As Brown University’s new policy school, it serves as the central home on campus for teaching, research, and public engagement around the world’s most complex policy challenges. The school builds on research strengths in security, governance and development, established by Brown’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and the Center for International Studies that preceded it.
