Graduate Coordinator, Global Brown Center for International Students

Biography

Ugoji Nwanaji-Enwerem is an MD-PhD student with a passion for environmental health, interdisciplinary research, and translating scientific knowledge into meaningful improvements in community health and clinical practice. Her work is grounded in a commitment to understanding how environmental factors shape health and to developing creative, community-centered initiatives that promote well-being and connection. She is especially passionate about bringing people, ideas, and disciplines together to create solutions to individual and population level challenges. She is a first generation Nigerian American with a deep appreciation for culture and heritage. Outside of school, she enjoys exploring nature, spending quality time with family, and discovering and enjoying music.

As a Graduate Coordinator, her role includes:

  • Develop and lead intentional programming series that foster belonging, community, and well-being among international graduate students, incorporating cultural celebrations, social connection, professional development, and academic support for students representing more than 71 countries.
  • Create and facilitate workshops that provide practical skills and resources to support international students’ personal and professional development, including career development, job interview preparation, tax filing, and navigating academic and professional opportunities.
  • Plan and host engaging on- and off-campus experiences that encourage students to build community while exploring Providence beyond College Hill, strengthening students’ connection to the broader local community and creating opportunities for cultural exchange and connection.
  • Collaborate with university leadership, campus organizations, and community partners to identify and respond to the evolving needs of international graduate students, developing initiatives that promote inclusion, student engagement, well-being, and a strong sense of belonging and support.
